Easy to reach and located in the middle of the nature, the " counter reservoir " of Grosbois-en-Montagne is a supervised swimming area (july august) where you can also discover the fauna and flora in Côte d'Or.
Surrounded of green hills, woods and fields, this building offers an amazing point of view and fullness. Picnic tables are available and a catering area sells snacking food in july and august.
In this pleasant and familial place, you can also practice several activities as volley-ball, petanque, beach games and even fishing.

Thanks to its 9.2 billions cubic meters capacity for a 105 hectares surface, Grosbois is one of the most important water tank of all the tanks of the Burgundy Canal. Built in 1838, it has been consolidated in 1852. It is one of the most deep in Côte d'Or with a height upper to 20 meters at the surface of the dam. It is established on the Brenne valley at around 400 m altitude. A 14 km channel is bringing the water in the pool of Pouilly at 378 m altitude, which gives a 0.16% slope. This channel crosses the very marked relief which is separating the Brenne side from the Armançon one by an 3.6 km long underground which is emerging at Soussey where it is catching the Brionne water before doing the same with two others streams downstream.
In 1900, Grosbois is welcoming a counter reservoir just at the downstream of its dam, designed to counterbalance the pressure applied on this one by the water retainer. This second plant of water contains 0.9 billion cubic meters and is very used as a place of water leisure. It also has a rule of the Brenne regulator.
Essential device for the Burgundy canal supply, it is also a famous landscape element and a place welcoming protected species.
